Construction KPIs / Retention days outstanding
Retention days outstanding
Construction KPI · benchmark Under 30 past release date
How to calculate it
For each retention, days between its contractual release date and today, if unpaid. Report the total value overdue and the oldest item.
Why it matters
Retentions are loans to your customers. This measures how long they're keeping money past the point they agreed to give it back.
The Taxtful view
Anything over 30 days past release is a phone call. Over 90 is a letter. Over 180 is a conversation about whether you tender for them again.
Every Taxtful client sees this number on their Taxtful View each month, with the benchmark alongside. Benchmarks are drawn from our own client base and published sector data; ranges vary by trade and contract type.
