Construction KPIs / Work in progress ratio
Work in progress ratio
Construction KPI · benchmark Under 15% of monthly revenue
How to calculate it
Cost incurred on work not yet applied for, divided by average monthly certified revenue.
Why it matters
High WIP means you're funding work before you've asked to be paid for it. It's the quietest cash drain in construction.
The Taxtful view
Apply more often. Fortnightly applications on big jobs are normal and most contracts allow them if you ask.
Every Taxtful client sees this number on their Taxtful View each month, with the benchmark alongside. Benchmarks are drawn from our own client base and published sector data; ranges vary by trade and contract type.
